The Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office says a Mars Hill woman waited too long to claim excessive force when she was shot while being held hostage. Lena Gerber filed suit in August with U.S. District Court in Bangor against the sheriff’s office, Deputy Isaac Ward and her former attorney, Jeffery Pickering, arising from the fatal shooting of Jacob Wood on April 14, 2021.

The accident occurred at roughly 5:15 p.m. on Sunday on Route 1, or Main Street, in Grand Isle. Matthew Dionne, 29, of Grand Isle was struck by a Grey 2013 Toyota Venza driven by Steven York, 54, of Caribou.
