LIMESTONE — Part of the next generation of Limestone volunteer firefighters, Junior Firefighter Chelsea Leighton, 17, of Limestone, has always been interested in firefighting and joined the department when she was 15.     “I grew up with a parent in the fire department, and I found the profession exciting,” she said. “I have an uncle who teaches a junior fire academy in Presque Isle and I wanted to learn more.”
A member of the department, her concern about fire fighting is knowing that there’s a chance that the people she works with may go into a building and not come out again — especially her father.
Daughter of Jim Leighton and Gail Phair-Kirk, Chelsea likes to spend her time reading, fourwheeling, playing basketball, softball and soccer, and spending time with her friends.
Her favorite food is spaghetti and her least favorite is a toss-up between pork and seafood.
Chelsea’s favorite music is R&B and country.
