A master of spin

To the editor:

I think Joe Biden is the worst president our country has seen in modern times. I also believe in being fair. With that in mind, I set out on a quest to see if I could find something positive amid his many failures. It took less time than I thought to come up with something.

Biden is a master when it comes to political spin. He has managed to put our country on a path to destruction and still claims credit for being a productive giant. Following are some examples of a true spin master at work.

When Biden assumed his throne the price of gas was under $2.50 a gallon. Under Biden it rose to over $5 a gallon in some places. Now it’s somewhere around $3.40 a gallon. Joe now takes credit for lowering gas prices.

Joe inherited an economy with less than 2 percent inflation. Inflation has risen to more than 8 percent, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Now that inflation is around 6.6 percent, Joe claims credit for lowering inflation.

Illegal border crossings at our southern border have reached record highs under Biden, according to the Republican Committee on Homeland Security. Yet Joe claims his border policies are working.

Biden’s administration spent money like crazy in his first year in office. In his second year he spent less, then looked for credit for lowered spending while overlooking the fact that the national debt has grown under his watch, as it has with every other administration in recent history.

My message is: Don’t be fooled by what you hear because political spin is everywhere and both parties are using it. Now that we face the 2024 election it’s important to open our minds. Let’s not be fooled by the double talk that candidates will throw at us. If there is a media source you hate, pay attention to what they report because that could very well be the other side of the story that you should listen to help make an informed decision.
