50 Years Ago — April 5, 1973

    Desjardins makes third trip — Roland Desjardins was presented a check from Claude Viel, president of Local 247, International Brotherhood of Papermakers. Desjardins of Madawaska, will be making his third trip to the 10th annual Charles H. Milan Sr. Memorial Sweepstakes at the Bangor-Brewer Bowling lanes. Desjardins captured the title in 1969.

25 Years Ago — April 8, 1998

Daigle becomes Eagle Scout of Troop 270 — Jody Daigle, of Frenchville, has earned the honor of Eagle Scout. Troop 270 of Frenchville, St. Agatha and Sinclair conducted an Eagle Scout Court of Honor to honor the troops’ newest Eagle Scout. For Daigle, this represented more than 10 years of dedication and effort in which to attain this milestone. For his Eagle Scout project, Daigle led Boys Scouts and adults to restore the Frenchville Historical Water Tower, which restored the town’s historical landmark.

10 Years Ago — April 3, 2013 

First day of open-water fishing — On a snowy first day of open-water fishing for the 2013 season, a group of anglers chose a point of land at the confluence of the Fish and St. John Rivers on Monday, April 1, 2013. Despite the weather, other fishermen were also out in canoes on the river.
