Daigle Oil Company to build a tunnel car wash in Presque Isle

Daigle Oil Company, headquartered in Fort Kent, announced that it purchased the former Burger King property located on Main Street in Presque Isle, with plans to construct a state-of-the-art express tunnel car wash to serve the greater Central Aroostook area.

DOC begins demolition of the existing building next week to prepare the property for construction, which begins in the spring. The new car wash location is anticipated to be open to the public by the second half of 2023.

The automatic tunnel wash will include the most up to date car wash equipment, an advanced payment system along with environmentally friendly cleaning detergents adaptable to all weather conditions. The wash will be designed to clean vehicles more effectively in an eco-friendly process while providing an exceptional customer experience. Multiple self-serve vacuum stations will be accessible as well.

DOC currently operates five Gentle Bear car wash locations in Fort Kent, Madawaska, Caribou, Houlton, and Bangor, yet this stand-alone express tunnel wash will be the first of its kind the company will construct and operate.

“We searched for a prime piece of property for close to a year with location and ease of access as critical requirements for this project. The Burger King property checked all our boxes. We look forward to establishing a car wash in this community as we continue to grow our services beyond the heating, cooling, and motor fuel side of our business,” states Carter Vaillancourt, Daigle Oil Co. chief operating officer.

DOC plans to provide additional updates to the community as the project progresses.
