Brain Builders (online) 2-3 p.m. Thursday, May 19, emphasizing how a healthy brain improves mood and decreases the likelihood of having illnesses that threaten quality of life.
Brain Health: You Can Make a Difference online session helps participants create goals that impact on their life and boosts their brain health.
Older Americans Month celebration, in person, 9-11 a.m. Friday, May 20, at the Hodgdon Fire House, 49 Hodgdon Mills Rd., with coffee and donuts. Employees from the agency will be on hand to discuss programs and services that are available to help older persons live independently in their own home community.
Flavor of Aroostook: Cooking to Connect class (online), 3-4:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 24. Join Lisa Fishman of the UMaine Cooperative Extension for a hands-on class on “Cooking to Reduce Inflammation.” Due to COVID precautions, the interactive Zoom session will be transmitted from the culinary lab at Northern Maine Community College. Registration limited to 20.
Community hot dog roast 11 a.m. until gone Thursday, May 26, hosted by Aroostook Area Agency on Aging, in recognition of Older Americans Month.

Employees from the agency will be on hand to discuss programs and services that are available to help older persons live independently in their own home community.
Letters campaign for Older Americans Month, hosted by Aroostook Area Agency on Aging and Aroostook County schools. Grade 5-6 students from the area are invited to write a letter or create a card that will be distributed randomly to older residents of Aroostook County during any special May events. Upcoming events include Bingocize, a 10-week health promotion program that mixes the popular game of bingo with moderate exercise; Savvy Caregiver (online), a 12-hour course delivered in 2-hour sessions over a 6-week period; Conversations Project (online), that assists in developing questions or sharing concerns with loved ones or doctors; Falls Prevention Informational Session (online); A Matter of Balance (online); Living Well for Better Health (online); Living Well with Chronic Pain (online); and Tai Chi for Better Health and Balance (online).
