New Ventures to host business workshops

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — New Ventures Maine continues to offer virtual small business workshops, resources and individual assistance, including these upcoming tuition-free online classes.  

Tax Readiness for the Self-employed — This one-session class provides information and tools for business owners to organize their financial records, understand tax responsibilities, become familiar with tax forms, and file their taxes with confidence.  This workshop is designed for sole proprietors and single member LLCs.

Business Basics — This three-session online class will run Wednesdays starting Oct. 6, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. 

This class covers the basics of a business plan, marketing, cash planning and is suitable for those thinking about or in the early start-up phase of a new business. It will help individuals assess the feasibility, desirability, and viability of their business idea and get started with developing a plan.

Work for Yourself@50+ — This online class will be offered Thursday, Oct. 14, at 6:30 p.m.

Introduction to Self-employment. This is a one-session workshop offered Tuesday, Oct. 19, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The workshop will help individuals decide if self-employment is the right choice for them. The class covers the pros and cons of owning a business, the steps needed for start-up, the major elements of a business plan, and the many resources available to help reach success.
