Fort Fairfield girls soccer takes victory over Wisdom in 5-2 senior game

FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine — The Fort Fairfield girls soccer team took home a win during their last senior game against Wisdom in a 5-2 play on Thursday, Oct. 10. 

The game started off with a goal midway through the first half from Fort Fairfield junior Kourtney West. Wisdom then tied it up with a goal from Colleen Thamsen, assisted by Lilly Roy. 

Fort Fairfield junior Kennedy Bencivenga scored a second goal with an assist from Camryn Ala, which Wisdom followed up with another score putting the teams at 2-2 for the first half. 

During the second half of the game, Fort Fairfield defense strengthened their defense, letting in two shots on goal. Speaking of the team’s spirits during the second part, Fort Fairfield Coach Emily Ala said, “Fort came out fierce and didn’t let up.” 

Bencivenga scored two more goals with an assist from senior Cammi King. Ala scored a second time, setting the team up for a 5-2 victory over Wisdom. 

Fort Fairfield sophomore Eva Callioras had five saves against eight shots on goal.
