T14 R6, Maine — Two men escaped injury Thursday morning following separate collisions with the same moose on the Soucy Hill section of Maine Route 11 in northern Aroostook County.

Greyden Pelletier, 18, of Fort Kent, was driving south shortly before 5 a.m. when he was unable to avoid striking a moose which had run into the road, according to a press release from the Maine State Police.

The animal struck the front end of Peletier’s 2004 GMC truck, smashing the windshield before coming to rest in the northbound lane.

As Pelletier pulled over, Shawn Gantnier, 19, of Madawaska, traveling north, struck the animal. Gantnier ran over the moose, totaling his 2005 Toyota Camry, according to police.

Neither Gantnier nor Pelletier were injured in the crash, police said. Trucks towed both vehicles from the scene.
