Residents pitch in to aid others – The generosity in Van Buren on Saturday, March 20, 1999, was overwhelming. Cadette Girl Scout Troop 673 had a toiletry drive to benefit the Battered Women’s Shelter, but the community opened their coffers and food, money and even bottles were given.

Keep honored — Randy Keep, secretary/vice president of Maine Mutual Fire Insurance Co. of Presque Isle received a certificate of honorary membership to the Presque Isle Fire Department from Fire Chief Jim Krysiak.
