Clouds increase Saturday as an occluded front ahead of an upper-level low over the Great Lakes slowly moves towards the region as high pressure drifts east of the region. Mostly cloudy skies with a chance for scattered showers develops Sunday, mainly in the afternoon with a chance for showers persisting Sunday night into Monday.
By Monday, the upper high to the east breaks down allowing the occlusion to approach while another low forms off the Mid-Atlantic coast helping carry a deep channel of moisture northward. This has the potential to bring a soaking rain Monday into Monday night as the new low and the occlusion lifts north. Rain is expected to continue Tuesday as the occlusion stalls out and weakens over the state.
