Fort Kent Christmas tree all set for lighting ceremony

FORT KENT, Maine — All that is needed is an audience of merrymakers when the Fort Kent Christmas tree will proudly display its beauty during a lighting ceremony on Saturday.

The public works department and Lions Club members teamed up Wednesday to string 35 sets of LED lights around the giant tree, which stands on the lawn of the Fort Kent Public Library.

The tree lighting ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 26, at the library, located at 1 Monument Square across from the Shop and Save Plaza.

Santa Claus will visit and deliver presents to all children in attendance.

The library restroom will be open to the public. The library is also hosting a holiday gift basket raffle fundraiser and tickets will be available to those interested in participating.
