Katahdin Trust Employees raise $2,400 for Aroostook House of Comfort

HOULTON, Maine — The Aroostook House of Comfort was selected to be the recipient of funds raised during the first three quarters of 2022 by employees of Katahdin Trust, a local community bank serving northern Maine and the greater Bangor and Portland regions.

“Our Casual Because We Care program has been a successful way for us to raise funds to be able to donate to great causes like the Aroostook House of Comfort,” stated Natasha McCarthy, executive vice president, chief human resources officer and co-chair of Katahdin’s Employee Engagement Team, which helped develop the program.

Each Katahdin Trust employee who wishes to participate in the Casual Because We Care program donates a minimum of $1 in exchange for the privilege to dress casually and wear jeans on Fridays and Saturdays. The decision as to which Maine non-profit will become the beneficiary of these funds is decided upon by the employees.

“It is because of the generosity of organizations like Katahdin Trust that we can continue to serve the people of our communities,” stated Abbey Clair, Aroostook House of Comfort executive director. “We appreciate their thoughtfulness and are happy to be chosen as the recipient of these funds.”

The Aroostook House of Comfort is an in-patient hospice and respite care facility owned by the Aroostook Hospice Foundation and staffed by Northern Light Home Care & Hospice, the only local Medicare-certified hospice provider in the area. Together they offer individuals and their families compassionate care, comfort, dignity, and support on their journey.
