Pioneers, Warriors split final regular season games

ST. AGATHA, Maine – The Class D Wisdom Middle/High School girls soccer team defeated Class C Fort Kent 4-0, but the Pioneer boys fell to the Warriors 3-0 during their final games of the regular season Monday in St. Agatha.

The Wisdom/Van Buren girls went undefeated on the season with a record of 14-0 in Class D North and should be in good position for the upcoming playoffs. Abbie Lerman scored two goals and had two assists for Wisdom. Kamryn Clavette also registered two goals and one assist. Lilly Roy also had an assist.

The Fort Kent girls completed the regular season with a 9-5 record in Class C North.

In the boys game, Kaden Theriault led Fort Kent with two goals, one unassisted and one assisted by Pierson Caron, and Caleb Lavertu scored an unassisted goal for the Warriors. 

The Fort Kent boys finished the regular season at 13-1. The Pioneer boys moved to 10-4, both squads should avoid preliminary playoff matchups. The final standings will not be released until Thursday, Oct. 20, with the postseason set to begin Friday, Oct. 21, with prelim games.

The Class C and D quarterfinals are slated for Oct. 26.
