Fort Kent schools delayed due to water line break

FORT KENT, Maine – Students attending SAD 27 schools in Fort Kent who hopped on buses this morning are being returned to their homes and school will be delayed for at least three hours following a break in a water line supplying the schools. 

Water is currently unavailable to Fort Kent Community High School/Valley Rivers Middle School and Fort Kent Elementary School as the result of a water line break. The school buildings are located on Pleasant Street. 

With this delay, school will begin at 11 a.m., both morning and afternoon PreK sessions are canceled.

In an email to parents, the school district stated the situation was still being assessed.

The Fort Kent Water Department is working to repair the broken water line.
