Fort Kent-Madawaska golf places fourth at states

VASSALBORO, Maine — The Fort Kent golf team, which includes players from Madawaska, swung, chipped, pitched and putted their way into fourth place at the 2022 Class C championship Saturday, Oct. 8, at Natanis Golf Course in Vassalboro.

Maranacook topped the 13 Class C teams who competed in Saturday’s championship match with a score of 334.

Fort Kent shot a combined 359 and was the highest placing Aroostook County team in the competition. Fort Fairfield (386) placed ninth at the championship 386 and Central Aroostook finished in 12th. 

Kaden Theriault of Fort Kent registered the team’s highest individual score at 85, landing him in ninth place out of 75 golfers in the boys flight. The team does not have any girl players this year. 

Madawaska players on the Fort Kent team Cameron Derosier and Sam Dufrense each scored 88 and Ian Beaulieu of Madawaska scored 98. Fort Kent’s Tobias Naranja finished the tournament with a score of 112.
