St. John Valley weather for Aug. 31-Sept. 6

3-Day Outlook: Wednesday-Friday

An approaching cold front is bringing a round of showers to the Valley this morning and these will be followed by another band of showers along with some scattered thunderstorms this afternoon. NWS Caribou said, “Some storms may produce gusty winds and locally heavy rainfall this afternoon into early this evening.”

Rain will wind down this evening with partly cloudy skies developing overnight. High pressure brings cooler, less humid conditions behind the front. An  upper-level trough trailing today’s cold front produces some isolated showers across the SJV Thursday. Mostly sunny skies are expected Friday and mostly clear skies Friday night as the ridge of high pressure moves across the region.

Today and Tonight

Cloudy with a 70 percent chance for showers and a chance for afternoon thunderstorms. Rainfall totals in the quarter to half-inch range with higher amounts in storms possible. High around 72 degrees. South wind 5-10 mph.

Tonight, partly cloudy with a 10 percent chance for showers. Patchy fog possible overnight. Low near 53 degrees. Southwest wind 4-5 mph.
