Sierra Club seeks volunteers to clean up trash in Fort Kent

FORT KENT, Maine — The Sierra Club/Fort Kent Community Action Team is seeking volunteers to participate in an outdoor cleanup event in Fort Kent.

All members of the public, including other local organizations, are invited to help with the cleanup effort.

“It needs doing because it makes our community nicer,” event organizer Tricia Rubert-Nason said.

Sierra Club members will bring a map to the event and, depending on how  many volunteers arrive, will help direct them to different areas of the town to clean up.

Trash bags and gloves will be provided.

Sierra Club also held a trash cleanup event in the town in May

Volunteers will meet near the Lions Pavilion at Riverside Park in Fort Kent on Saturday, Sept. 25. The event will take place from 10 a.m. until noon.

For information about the cleanup event or about Sierra Club, contact Tricia Rubert-Nason at tnason04@gmail.com or 608-239-2867.
