Fort Kent man arrested, faces multiple charges

FORT KENT, Maine — A Fort Kent man is facing multiple criminal charges following a reported domestic disturbance on Saturday, May 15.

Fort Kent Police Officer Jack Mahoney and Aroostook County Sheriff’s Deputy Nate Chisholm responded at 10 p.m. to a caller’s report of a disturbance at a parking lot behind a Main Street apartment building.

After speaking with tenants of the building, the officers arrested 20 year-old Jayce Martin.

Martin allegedly caused damage to a vehicle in the parking lot earlier in the evening and later allegedly assaulted his roommate, according to Fort Kent Police Chief Tom Pelletier. Martin reportedly became combative with the officers during the arrest, Pelletier said.

Police charged Martin with criminal mischief, criminal threatening, domestic violence assault, refusing to submit to arrest and assault on an officer.

Martin will appear Monday, July 19, in Fort Kent District Court.
