Valley Tennis Roundup: Van Buren boys remain undefeated

Success continues to follow the Van Buren tennis team on the courts this spring. The Crusader boys are a perfect 5-0 on the year as of May 14, while the girls team is 3-2 on the season.

On May 13, the Van Buren girls and boys teams beat Madawaska at home. 

Boys: Van Buren 5, Madawaska 0 — The individual results, with Van Buren players first were: in singles: Manny Deschaine beat Jordan Clavette, 8-4; Xavier Deschaine won versus Caleb Bassett, 8-5; Brady Laplante beat Sam Lausier, 9-7.

In doubles: Blake Martin and Mikail Deschaine beat Brady Gagnon and Evan Dionne, 8-2; Sam Hebert and Eric Laplante beat Brandon Ringuette and Adam Gendreau, 8-4.

Girls: Van Buren 4, Madawaska 1 — The individual results listed here with Van Buren players first were: in singles: Renee Lapoint beat Alexis Cyr, 8-3; Kylie Laplante beat Hannah Thibeault, 8-3; Emmie McIntyre lost to Hannah Blanchette, 3-8. 

In doubles: Mallory Beaulieu and Jazmine Ayotte beat Breanna Ouellette and Hannah Blanchette, 8-4; Abby Ayotte and Abbie Cormier won by forfeit.

The following day, Friday, May 14, Van Buren played a doubleheader in Madawaska versus the Owls and later the Fort Kent Warriors.

Boys: Van Buren 3, Madawaska 2 — The individual results listed here with Van Buren players first, were: in singles: Manny Deschaine lost to Clavette, 4-8; Xavier Deschaine beat Bassett, 8-5; Brady Laplante was beaten by Lausier, 8-9.

In doubles: Blake Martin and Mikail Deschaine beat Brady Gagnon and Brandon Ringuette, 8-4; Sam Hebert and Eric Laplante won versus Adam Gendreau and Jackson Verneau, 8-2.

In doubles: Blake Martin and Mikail Deschaine beat Logan Levesque and Colby Theriault, 8-4; Sam Hebert and Eric Laplante lost to Oliver Caron and Nate Voisine, 4-8.

Girls: Van Buren 1, Fort Kent 4 — The individual results listed here with Van Buren players first, were: in singles: Renee Lapointe lost to Anna Albert, 3-8; Kylie Laplante lost versus Julia Cyr, 3-8; Emmie McIntyre beat Mia Voisine, 8-3. 

In doubles: Mallory Beaulieu and Jazmine Ayotte fell to Lacy Pelletier and Gabby Martin, 5-8; Abbie Cormier and Jayde Violette lost against Logan Stedt and Mallory Sirois, 2-8.

On Monday, May 17 Van Buren hosted Fort Kent. The Van Buren boys secured their undefeated streak, moving to (6-0) and Fort Kent’s boys continued winless (0-6). Meanwhile, Fort Kent’s girls triumphed.

In doubles: Blake Martin and Mikail Deschaine defeated Logan Levesque and Colby Theriault, 8-5; Sam Hebert and Eric Laplante lost to Oliver Caron and Nate Voisine, 8-9.

Girls: Van Buren 1, Fort Kent 4 — The individual results listed here with Van Buren players first were: in singles: Renee Lapointe lost to Anna Albert, 3-8; Kylie Laplante was beaten by Julia Cyr, 4-8; Emmie McIntyre beat Mallory Sirois, 9-7.

In doubles: Mallory Beaulieu and Jazmine Ayotte lost to Lacy Pelletier and Gabby Martin, 6-8; Abbie Cormier and Abby Ayotte lost to Logan Stedt and Mia Voisine, 1-8.
