Van Buren tennis teams beat Madawaska

MADAWASKA, Maine — Van Buren swept host-Madawaska Tuesday, May 4 in boys and girls  tennis matches.

The Van Buren girls won 4-1, while the Crusader boys were victorious 3-2. Madawaska’s record for both teams dropped to 0-2. Van Buren’s teams are now both 1-0.

The individual girls results, with Madawaska players listed first, were: in singles: Alexis Cyr was beaten by Reneé Lapointe, 1-8; Hannah Thibeault lost to Kylie Laplante, 3-8; and Hannah Blanchette beat Emmie McIntyre, 8-5.

In doubles, Breanna Ouellette and Hailey Blanchette lost to Mallory Beaulieu and Jazime Ayotte, 6-8; and Madawaska forfeited the second doubles match to Abby Ayotte and Abbie Cormier.

The individual boys results, with Madawaska players listed first, were: in singles: Jordan Clavette lost to Xavier Deschaine, 8-9 (7-9); Caleb Bassett beat Brady Laplante, 8-6; and Sam Lausier lost to Sam Hebert, 6-8.

In doubles, Brady Gagnon and Evan Dionne lost to Blake Martin and Mikail Deschaine, 2-8; Jackson Verneau and Adam Gendreau won by forfeit.
