Realtor opens new business in Fort Kent

FORT KENT, Maine — A Fort Kent man with nearly two decades of realty experience recently began his own real estate business.

Northern Star Real Estate Services officially opened March 4 with owner Steve Johnson at the helm.

Johnson, 56, said he founded Northern Star Real Estate “to realize the dream of owning my own business.”

As a designated broker, Johnson has 17 years of experience working in real estate and rental management.

To maintain his broker status Johnson said he must complete 21 credit hours of training every two years.

Northern Star Real Estate provides listing services for sellers and buyer brokerage services for buyers. The business also offers rentals for tenants, rental management for landlords, and will soon include storage management.

Johnson said what sets his business apart is the personal care and attention he gives to all of his clients.

“I sell and list homes constantly for people and am able to guide buyers and sellers in this endeavor while trying to make the process go as smoothly as possible,” he said.

Steve Johnson and his wife, Gail Johnson, live in Fort Kent and are the parents of two adult sons: Cody Johnson, a U.S. biathlon skier with the Maine National Guard who is currently deployed, and Sam Johnson, who attends Thomas College in Waterville.

“I want to thank all the people that were supportive in this endeavor and were happy for me to pursue a new venture – especially my wife who is always there for me,” Johnson said.

In his free time, he enjoys outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, kayaking, hiking and snowshoeing.
