Frenchville hires new town manager
FRENCHVILLE, Maine — Frenchville has a new town manager.
David D. Cyr recently took over the role after Ryan E. Pelletier resigned from the position in March following six years of service to the town. Town Clerk Susette Zetterman has served as interim town manager.
Cyr currently lives in Woodland but has ties to the St. John Valley as a Madawaska High School graduate. His mother is from Frenchville.
Cyr has extensive experience in public service, including more than six years as town manager of Mars Hill, having served as public works director for the Aroostook Board of County Commissioners for the Unorganized Territories, and as a three term member of the Woodland Board of Selectmen.
He also holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering technology from University of Maine.
Cyr has identified the major issues facing Frenchville, and said he is prepared to work on resolving them, with support from the Board of Selectpersons.
“I am impressed with the board’s willingness to move these items forward,” Cyr said. “The biggest issue deals with a force main upgrade to our current wastewater disposal system and removal of accumulated sludge in our wastewater lagoon. We also need to put the Pelletier Avenue issue to bed and behind us.”
“We are working with Wright Pierce Engineers on project design for a replacement force main,” Cyr added. “The biggest hurdle facing us at this time is funding. We have already secured significant funding from the Maine [Department of Environmental Protection] to complete project design, but our funding package is not yet secure. As regards Pelletier Avenue, following mediation, we have agreed to a plan, and are waiting for survey work to be completed to implement that plan.”
Cyr and his wife Louise are the parents of adult twin sons, Dann and Dylan Pelletier, both of whom are also public servants.
Dann works as a firefighter/paramedic with Caribou Fire and Ambulance Department, and Dylan is a captain and firefighter/paramedic with the Presque Isle Fire Department.
In his free time, David Cyr enjoys woodworking, with a focus on completing the interior trim on the family home, and is a fan of his John Deere tractor.
