Teen driver treated at hospital following Fort Kent crash

FORT KENT, Maine — A Fort Kent teen was transferred by ambulance to Northern Maine Medical Center following a two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon.

The 17-year-old girl was operating a 2008 Subaru SUV when she exited the driveway of a home on Frenchville Road at around 1 p.m. An eastbound 2016 Ford Explorer driven by Meghan Pelletier, 35, of Fort Kent crashed into the Subaru.

Ambulance Service Inc. transported the teen to Northern Maine Medical Center where she was treated for minor injuries.

Pelletier was not injured.

The cause of the accident was the 17-year-old driver’s failure to yield the right of way to the Ford Explorer, Fort Kent Police Chief Tom Pelletier said.

Both vehicles received extensive damage and were towed from the scene by Twin’s Service Station.
