Firefighters respond to burning car on St. Francis farm

ST. FRANCIS, Maine — St. Francis firefighters responded Friday morning to a report of a car in flames at a local farm.

Four volunteer St. Francis Fire Department firefighters responded with one engine at 9:16 a.m. to the call from 430 Sunset Drive. The farm owner, Jody Spiers, told firefighters that he was surprised to discover the vehicle on fire.

“They started it early in the morning and when they looked out it was on fire,” St. Francis Fire Deputy Chief Cole Pelletier said. He is also a captain with the Fort Kent Fire Department.

Fort Kent Fire Chief Ed Endee also went to the scene.

The firefighters extinguished the flames and were able to prevent the fire from spreading to structures on the farm.

Firefighters were unable to determine the cause of the fire, and the car was a total loss.

No firefighters, people or animals were injured as a result of the fire.
