Driver injured in two-car crash on Caribou Road

FORT KENT, Maine — One driver was transported to the hospital following a two-vehicle crash on Route 161 in Fort Kent on Saturday.

Fort Kent Police received a report of the crash just before 5:30 p.m. and went to the scene at the intersection of Strip Road and Route 161, also known as Caribou Road.

Chelsea Daigle, 30, of Eagle Lake was operating a 2013 GMC pickup truck eastbound on Strip Road when she failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection, according to Police Chief Tom Pelletier.

Daigle’s pickup truck continued onto Caribou Road where it crashed into the side of a 2016 Toyota Highlander SUV operated by Scott St. Peter, 45, of Fort Kent.

Ambulance Service Inc. transported Daigle to Northern Maine Medical Center where she was treated for minor injuries, Pelletier said.

St. Peter was not injured in the crash.

Both vehicles received extensive damage and were towed from the scene. No one was charged with any violations.

Maine State Police, Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office and Fort Kent Police Department assisted at the scene.
