Pick-up knocks down utility pole in Fort Kent
FORT KENT, Maine — A single motor vehicle crash in which a pickup left the roadway and struck a utility pole occurred on Monday, Nov. 23, according to Fort Kent Police.
Ashton Bernier, 18 of Fort Kent was operating a 2004 Chevrolet pick-up truck eastbound on Route 161 near the Fort Kent Golf Course when he lost control of the vehicle.
The pick-up left the roadway and struck a utility pole, knocking the pole to the ground, and temporarily cutting off power to area homes.
Officer Cole Pelletier, who investigated the crash, determined that Bernier had been driving too fast for road conditions.
Bernier was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured in the crash.
The Chevrolet received extensive damage and Twin’s Service Station towed it from the scene.
Versant Power replaced the utility pole.
