Madawaska business to give out free turkey dinners for Thanksgiving

MADAWASKA, Maine — Big Rick’s Burgers and Wings is asking those who might be interested in a free Thanksgiving turkey dinner or to volunteer to help put together those dinners to contact the restaurant.

Every year, Ricky Nadeau, owner of Big Rick’s Burgers and Wings, collects food and puts together a turkey dinner to deliver to those who are in need, alone or just overwhelmed.

This year, thanks to an outpouring of support and donations, Big Rick’s has dedicated 187 meals to be given away with an excess of 74 meals left over that need to find hungry mouths for Thanksgiving day.

So far 113 meals have been claimed, which leaves 74 meals available to anyone in the St. John Valley who might need or want a free turkey dinner meal on Thanksgiving.

Nadeau said Aerus, HB plumbing, Norstate, United Insurance and Marlene Deschaine hair salon all made donations, in addition to local community members.

Anyone interested in picking up a free turkey dinner, or who wants to volunteer on Thanksgiving from 10 a.m. to noon, should call Big Rick’s Burgers and Wings at 207-728-9098.
