Madawaska to hold Christmas tree lighting|

MADAWASKA, Maine — The St. John Valley Chamber of Commerce announced Tuesday that the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony will take place Friday, Nov. 20.

The Beautification Committee, made up of the St. John Valley Chamber of Commerce, the town of Madawaska and the Acadian Festival Committee, decorated last week in the pocket parks, amphitheater and farmers market and asked the rest of Main Street to participate.

The two winners of the coloring contest will be the lighters of the tree after Deacon Don Clavette blesses the tree.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will also be there.  The tree was donated by Town Manager Gary Picard.

The event starts at 4 p.m. with the lighting at 5 p.m. Masks and social distancing are encouraged.
