Madawaska Athletics Boosters raise $6,000 from Drive 4 Ur School virtual fundraiser

MADAWASKA, Maine — The Madawaska Athletics Booster Club held its annual Ford Drive 4 Ur School fundraiser event, only this year, they suited it for COVID.

While this is the third year Pelletier Ford and Madawaska have teamed up for the fundraiser, this was the first year that the event was held virtually due to COVID-19 concerns.

Despite the lack of physical involvement, Madawaska raised $6,000 from Pelletier Ford in Fort Kent, which is the same amount raised last year.

Sonya Poiesz, head of fundraising for the booster club, said that 30 students were asked to get 10 people to participate in the virtual test drive. Each completed “test drive” survey awarded the school $20. They earned $6,000 by the end of the day-long virtual event.

“This means that the athletes have access to new equipment and accessories such as water bottles, trainer nets,” Poiesz said. “This also means new uniforms for various sports … Thanks goes out to Steve Pelletier at Pelletier Ford in Fort Kent for securing this activity.”
