SUV damaged in collision with tractor-trailer

FORT KENT, Maine — An SUV and tractor-trailer truck collided Tuesday morning in downtown Fort Kent.

The crash occurred at around 7:30 a.m. and took place at the intersection of Market and Main streets.

An SUV driven by Susan Bouchard, 56, of Soldier Pond was stopped on Main Street at the bottom of Station Hill waiting for a train to pass. When the train passed, the SUV entered the intersection and crashed into a 2019 Western Star tractor-trailer turning left onto Main Street from Market Street.

Desjardins Logging owns the tractor-trailer, which was being driven by Timothy Pinette, 60, of Wallagrass.

Officer Cole Pelletier of the Fort Kent Police Department investigated the accident and determined Bouchard failed to yield the right of way to the tractor-trailer.

The SUV received extensive damage. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts and were not injured in the crash.
