American Legion Auxiliary to hold second annual coat drive and give-away

MADAWASKA, Maine — American Legion Auxiliary Unit 147 will hold a coat drive Oct. 24 and 25 for local residents to pick out jackets and coats they need for the winter.

This is the second year that the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 147 will do the coat drive. Last year, the drive brought in nearly 300 coats and 178 of them were picked up by local residents in need. The remainder of the coats were donated to the thrift shop in Madawaska.

American Legion Auxiliary Unit 147 is requesting that people search their closets and bring jackets, coats, hats, gloves and mittens to the legion. Donations of coats will be accepted Oct. 24 only from 8 to 11 a.m. downstairs at the American Legion in Madawaska.

Those wishing to pick up a free coat, may do so from 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 24 and 25, downstairs in the Legion.
