School system controversy benefits no one

To The Editor:

I hit the nail on the head in my Nov. 16, 2019, letter to the editor in the St. John Valley Times — “The Entire State Is Watching” — when I wrote, “Fort Kent, priding itself as the little town that can, will forever be known statewide as the little town that cried.”

It distresses me that in this economically depressed and nearly forgotten northernmost county, in a state whose people, in times gone by, united together for the good of all to prosper and promote the Crown of Maine, cannot sit at the same table and agree on what will be the best thing to happen for the three school systems since statehood.

The good folks of Fort Kent advertise “Just drive north,” yet, because of their funnel vision, obstinance and drive to have the new regional school in their backyard, the project, as well as their true geographic location, is going south.
