American Legion to host drive-thru lunch fundraiser in Madawaska

MADAWASKA, Maine — The American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 147 will hold a “drive-thru lunch” to raise money for the Boots on the Ground project from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7, at the Legion Post 147 on Main Street.

“It has been a very rough spring and summer with this COVID-19,” said public relations chairperson Bridget Daigle-Ellis. “It has stopped many non-profits from fundraising. This truly has hurt everyone.”

The American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 147 is selling tickets for the event at $8 a plate. The meal will consist of baked beans, hot dogs and ployes.

Once tickets are purchased ahead of time, those picking up food will have to stop at the side door across from Daigle Oil Company to turn in their tickets. From there, lunch-goers will drive around to the back door where the lunch will be delivered straight to the car.

Ticket proceeds will go toward the fundraiser for the Boots on the Ground program, which helps send Christmas care packages to Maine deployed soldiers.

Tickets are available for pre-sale from Oct. 13 – 17 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in front of the Legion.
