Madawaska Booster Club to hold third annual Ford Drive 4 UR School event virtually|

MADAWASKA, Maine — The Madawaska Athletics Booster Club will hold a virtual Ford Drive 4 UR School test-drive event as a fundraiser for Madawaska High School athletic teams on Oct. 10.

Last year, the booster club received $6,000 from the Ford Drive 4 UR School fundraiser event in partnership with Pelletier Ford in Fort Kent.

While this is the third year Pelletier Ford and Madawaska have teamed up for the fundraiser, this will be the first year that the event will be held virtually due to COVID-19 concerns.

The virtual test-drive starts out with a pre-registration survey. Then, the day of the event, participants who pre-registered will receive an email link for a virtual tour and post-drive survey.

The Madawaska Booster Club will receive $20 per completed post-drive survey, which costs nothing for the participants. Sonya Poiesz, head of fundraising for the booster club, said that the entire experience only takes seven minutes.

There can only be one test drive per household and participants must be 18 years old or older to “drive.”

The money will be used to purchase new equipment and uniforms for all sports including new race suits for cross-country skiing. They also plan to continue providing water bottles to players during games, and anything else that will help the different teams at Madawaska High School.
