Madawaska boys defeat Ashland 7-0

MADAWASKA, Maine — The Madawaska Owls boys soccer team defeated the Ashland Hornets, 7-0, in Madawaska’s first home game Sept. 24.

The night was also senior night for Madawaska where the four senior boys on the team presented their parents with a flower. Justin Pelletier, Robert Lausier, Brandon Ringuette and Caleb Bassett all were called onto the field with their parents to honor the start of their senior year.

Madawaska scored four goals in the first half and three in the second. Robbie Lausier scored two goals, Brady Gagnon and Brandon Ringuette each scored one goal and Carsen Cyr scored the final three goals.

Madawaska boys coach, Ben Gagnon said that “Ashland is always a competitive team that plays with heart and never gives up,” but added that Madawaska started the game out “very well.”

“Our passing was crisp and our communication was very good,” Gagnon said.

Gagnon added that he thought the boys improved over last game.

“We played much looser than the first game, and the boys really seemed to be having fun,” Gagnon said. “When these boys have fun, they play well.”
