FORT KENT, Maine — A second University of Maine at Fort Kent student has tested positive for COVID-19, according to the University of Maine System.

The student is now in isolation and other students will be quarantined as a result, UMFK president Deborah Hedeen said. She did not say whether those students had direct contact with the student who has tested positive.

“This student has not attended any classes in person and is not an on-campus student,” Hedeen said.

There are currently 12 confirmed cases of COVID-19 among UMaine system students and employees, including eight at the University of Maine campus in Orono and three at the University of Southern Maine. Those people are currently in isolation.
