Youth soccer registration underway in Fort Kent
FORT KENT, Maine — The Pee Wee Soccer and Co-ed Youth Soccer programs will return to Fort Kent this fall. The Recreation and Parks Department is registering children from pre-K to second grade for the Pee Wee program and grades three through six for the Co-ed division.
Both programs will begin the second week of September and run throughout October.
The deadline to register for the Pee Wee Soccer program is Thursday, Sept. 4.
“The goal of this program is to encourage youth to have fun and to learn to love the game of soccer,” said Fort Kent Rec Director Ann Beaulieu.
Practices and games for this program will be held Saturday mornings at Jalbert Park.
The deadline to register for the Co-ed program is Friday, Sept. 5.
“All youth involved will learn the skills and rules of soccer and become familiar with a competitive game setting that emphasizes good sportsmanship and a love for the sport,” said Beaulieu.
Practices and games for this program will be held on weekday evenings and Saturday mornings at Jalbert Park and the Riverside Park soccer field.
The fall soccer programs will include several precautionary measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The teams will be smaller than usual and coaches and spectators are asked to wear face coverings and stand at least six feet apart from one another.
The cost to register for the Pee Wee program is $20 for Fort Kent residents and $25 for non-residents. The cost to register for the Co-ed program is $30 for Fort Kent residents and $35 for non-residents.
Late registrations will not be accepted for either program.
Registration forms are available at the recreation office at the Fort Kent Municipal Building at 416 West Main St.
