Bicyclist hospitalized after colliding with pickup truck

FORT KENT, Maine — A bicyclist was transported by ambulance to Northern Maine Medical Center Thursday after colliding with a pick-up truck in downtown Fort Kent.

Kenneth Morin, 24, of St. John was riding a bicycle southbound on Highland Avenue shortly after 4 p.m. when he failed to stop at a stop sign, Fort Kent Police Chief Tom Pelletier said.
At the same time, Yvon Dube, 57, of Frenchville was operating a 2002 Ford pickup west on Charette Hill Road, which intersects with Highland Avenue.
Morin and his bicycle crashed into the pickup truck.
“The bicycle ran right into the side of the vehicle,” Pelletier said.
Ambulance Service Inc. transported Morin to the hospital where he was admitted for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The Ford pickup had minor damage and the bicycle was a total loss, according to Pelletier.
Fort Kent Fire Department assisted at the scene.
