Can-Am Dog Walk Fundraiser set for August
FORT KENT, Maine — Pooches and their people are invited to participate in the second annual Can-Am Dog Walk Fundraiser.
The event will raise funds for the 2021 Can-Am Crown International Sled Dog Races.
Monies raised help finance Can-Am through purse funds, trail maintenance, advertising and the purchase of items needed throughout the weekend-long event, according to Can-Am Dog Walk Fundraiser event organizer and Fort Kent Town Manager Suzie Paradis.
“Can-Am is one of Fort Kent’s largest community events,” Paradis said. “We have many who travel from throughout the United States and internationally to participate in the races and as spectators. This benefits the town as a whole. Can-Am provides a great economic drive and is an event that can be enjoyed by all ages.”
The Can-Am Dog Walk Fundraiser will take place beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, at Riverside Park near the Lion’s Pavilion, with registration to begin at 5 p.m. that day.
The registration fee is $10 and the first 50 to register will receive a free T-shirt.
Prizes will be awarded by a drawing to be held the day of the walk including free dog baths, ear cleaning and nail clippings from Tyra’s Pooch Parlor and La Belle Pooch Dog Grooming.
