Peter Clavette named Wisdom Middle/High School girls soccer coach

ST. AGATHA, Maine — Wisdom Middle/High School has hired Peter Clavette as the new girls varsity soccer head coach.

Clavette, 46, replaces outgoing coach Kevin Lavoie.

“I am incredibly excited to be a part of the process of bringing a winning tradition in soccer to Wisdom High School,” Clavette said. “I’ve got an amazing group of talented young ladies who are ready and willing to step up to the challenge.”

Born and raised in the St. John Valley, Clavette is a 1992 graduate of Madawaska High School.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in English and History from the University of Maine at Fort Kent where he played for the Bengal Men’s Varsity Basketball team.

After college, Clavette moved away to Ontario for 10 years with his wife Tammy, a native Newfoundlander.

The couple, who are parents to Jordan 16, and Kamryn, 13, returned to northern Maine in 2005.

Clavette is managing partner of United Insurance offices in Madawaska and Van Buren.

He has 10 years of experience coaching soccer, most recently with the Soccer Edmundston U15 AA Girls team, comprised of girls from Frenchville, St. Agatha, Fort Kent and Madawaska. Last year, the team went undefeated in the UNB Soccer Challenge.

“I think Pete is a great addition to our coaching staff at Wisdom,” SAD 33 Athletic Director Scott Pelletier said. “He has a lot of knowledge of soccer that he has acquired from years of coaching and a passion and love of the game. I am excited about what he brings to our girls soccer program.”

Clavette enjoys spending time with his family, reading, playing basketball, and of course, coaching soccer.
