St. John Valley Chamber of Commerce thanks graduating interns

MADAWASKA, Maine — The St. John Valley Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Board of Directors honored their senior interns June 11 before graduation with a check to help them with college expenses.

Just prior to the Madawaska Class of 2020 Drive-in Graduation, the board of directors along with director Sharon Boucher presented the graduates with a special appreciation of thanks including a check for $50 each to help offset the cost of textbooks.

“Kara Gendreau, Molly Cote and Lance Corbin were a valuable asset for the chamber during the year and they will be missed,” the chamber said in a press release.

The students did things such as answering phones and managing the chamber website along with other office tasks, according to Corbin. He added that the experience was unique.

“Sharon is a wonderful lady to work for and that one day a week was a day I always looked forward to,”Corbin said. “It was certainly a good break from regular school work and helped us learn about how a community is run.”

Colin Jandreau, a teacher at the Madawaska Middle High School, coordinated with the chamber for the students’ internship, which taught them business and communication skills.

“The St. John Valley Chamber of Commerce wishes to congratulate all 2020 graduates and wish them the best of luck in future endeavors,” the release said.
