Scott Pelletier named SAD 33 athletic director
ST. AGATHA, Maine — SAD 33 has named Scott Pelletier as athletic director.
Pelletier, 44, replaces Wisdom Middle/High School Principal Ralph Fantasia in the position. Fantasia will continue to serve as high school principal.
“I can’t wait to get started and have a positive impact,” Pelletier said. “I just love being in athletics and I want to give back to this wonderful community in Frenchville/St.Agatha. I am proud of the athletes at SAD 33; the players play with so much determination, grit and heart.”
Pelletier teaches health and physical education to grades K-12 students in the district. He has also coached soccer and basketball at Wisdom Middle/High School.
He will continue to teach as well as serve as the Wisdom varsity girls basketball coach.
Pelletier has experience working as an athletic director, having done so in Fort Kent 2013-2014 until he took a teaching position at Wisdom.
The COVID-19 pandemic has proven a game-changer in terms of school athletics, with the 2020 spring sports season canceled due to the virus, but Pelletier said he hopes the fall athletic season will resume as normal.
“I don’t know how things will look like at the moment, because it seems like things change day to day,” Pelletier said. “I remain hopeful.”
In his free time, Pelletier enjoys spending time with his two children.
“Aidan and Harper get most of my time outside of school and continue to remind me what is important in life,” Pelletier said.
Pelletier will officially step in as SAD 33 athletic director on July 1.
