Credit union supports essential workers with acts of kindness

MADAWASKA, Maine — NorState Federal Credit Union’s management team during a regular morning briefing session decided that doing good for others during this time of crisis needed to extend past the usual day-to-day business of serving members.

After a brief discussion, NorState’s Random Acts of Kindness team leader and executive marketing director Denise Duperre got to work with RAK teams located throughout their six communities in Aroostook County. The group decided to use local restaurants to make and deliver pizza for lunch to six local grocery stores in the central and northern portions of Aroostook and thank them for being on the front lines of an essential business.

“This RAK was a double ‘pay it forward,’ in my opinion, as we supported local restaurants to make up to 10 or 12 large pizzas in some of our branch locations and provide lunch to employees, like Madawaska’s Paradis Shop n’ Save, where 25-plus employees were working on Thursday, April 2,” Duperre said.

Deliveries were made in Madawaska, Fort Kent, Eagle Lake, Van Buren, Ashland and Presque Isle.

The community was very appreciative of this gesture, and so were the managers and employees of these establishments, Duperre reported.
