Edmundston announces recycling suspension due to COVID-19 precautions

EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick — The provincial government declared a state of emergency under section 12 of the Emergency Measures Act on March 19th to increase measures to help contain the spread of COVID-19 (the novel coronavirus).

Following the recommendations of the Office of the New Brunswick Chief Medical Officer of Public Health, the Northwest Regional Service Commission (CSRNO) temporarily suspends the operations of its sorting and recycling centre, to limit the risks of COVID-19 contamination for employees.

Even if, for the moment, recyclables will be sent to the landfill, the City of Edmundston is asking citizens to keep their good habits and to respect the current Garbage, recyclables and special collection calendar. This way, all your great recycling habits will not be not forgotten during these exceptional times.

The City of Edmundston thanks you for your efforts and your understanding during these trying times, said Gary Cyr, coordinator, Public Works Department.
