Snowmobile Trail Report, Feb. 13, 2020

CARIBOU, Maine — This weekend coming is the beginning of high school vacation week and that means it will be very busy so please ride right.

This week has been another very busy week on County trails as the weather with the combined big storm over the past weekend have made for very good conditions.  Most clubs have been out day and night to beat the air out of the snow.

Please be aware with the snow squalls on Thursday and some high winds open terrain trails will see drifting.  If clubs don’t get out to groom these areas, they could remain rough for a day or two, please keep this in mind when planning your trip.

As the snow keeps getting deeper and deeper this is the time of year when signs start disappearing.  If you do come upon a sign that is hard to see, stop and try to pull it up. Any help like this is very much appreciated.

A big thank you goes out to Pleasant Ridge Riders and The Madawaska Snowmobile Club for going out to help Van Buren during their time of need.  Van Buren had a significant breakdown and these clubs went out to lend a hand. Good news is Van Buren got their machine back and they are out grooming now.  Remember that it will take several passes to get the trails back into shape but have no fear they will get them back.

Just a quick note I would like to put out there about the report.  The information that I receive from the trail masters on Wednesday and Thursday is only as good as I get it from them.  Conditions change constantly and what is reported on one day might significantly change the next day. This report is sent out on Thursday and is intended to be the information for several days.  If conditions change or something drastic happens to a club, that information might not be represented within this report. Please check the local club Facebook pages for changes that might not be in this report.

Caution is to be advised as the deer, moose and turkeys are now walking around on the trails because the snow is getting deeper.
