Warrior girls defeat Woodland on senior night

FORT KENT, Maine — The Fort Kent Community High School girls basketball team defeated Woodland during the Warriors final home game of the regular season on Saturday. 


The 40-31 win included two 3-pointers by Fort Kent senior Desirae Hafford, who had the game high point total of 18. All four Warrior seniors visited the scoreboard as Samantha Roy and Madison Saucier chipped in six  points apiece, and Kailee Guimond added another three. Junior Shaylee Jandreau also scored six points during the game. 

Woodland’s Abby Walker was the top scorer for her team with 16 points, followed by Nicole Cox with eight and Emily Erskine with five, including a 3-pointer. 

The Warrior girls improved to 5-12 on the regular season with one game left to play at Fort Fairfield Thursday, Feb. 6. Fort Kent is in the playoff mix as the team is currently the No. 12 seed. Fort Kent will be on the road for a preliminary playoff.
