Fort Kent man arrested twice in four hours

FORT KENT, Maine — Fort Kent police arrested the same man twice over the span of four hours Jan. 3-4. The first time he was charged with domestic violence assault, and the second time for violating the terms of bail a few hours later for that initial charge.

Police responded to a complaint of an assault at a residence on Market Street around 9 p.m. Jan. 3. Officer Trevor Bellefleur of the Fort Kent Police Department arrested 37-year-old Ryan Sides and transported him to the station where he posted bail.

Sides was not to return to the apartment residence as a condition of his bail, but at 1 a.m. on Jan. 4, police received a report that Sides had returned to the apartment.

Sgt. Dalen Boucher of the Fort Kent Police Department arrested Sides again. He was charged with violation of conditions of release and was transported to Aroostook County Jail.

Sides’ court date is set for Feb. 3 at Fort Kent District Court.
