Nursing students share knowledge in community health outreach

EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick — Students in the Science Sector nursing program at the University of Moncton, Edmundston campus, shared their knowledge by performing a health promotion activity with several students in schools and residents in independent care homes in November.

They collected some data related to anthropometric measures, in addition to checking the pulse and blood pressure of participants. Students also shared information on diet, physical activity, stress and sleep, among others.

School groups affected were the Regional School of Sainte-Anne-de-Madawaska, the Great River St. Leonard School, the Learning Center of Upper Madawaska Clair and the St. Joseph Community School. Independent care homes that participated were the residence Hotel-Dieu of St. Basil, the Belle-Vue mansion Edmundston, home Mount Saint Joseph Sainte-Anne-de-Madawaska and Villa Des Jardins Edmundston.

The faculty of the nursing sector would like to thank the Northwest Francophone School District, and the directors of schools and nursing homes, for their valuable cooperation and warm welcome.
