Fort Kent’s Jaren Hartt wrestles to first at tournament

FORT KENT, Maine — Two Fort Kent athletes placed in the MCI Husky Winter Classic wrestling tournament on Saturday.

Junior Jaren Hartt wrestled his way to first place at the tournament in the 106 weight division. Hartt defeated four opponents and registered one pin to reach the top of the podium.

“Jaren had an unbelievable day wrestling. He stayed in control all day long even though the competition was tough,” said Fort Kent coach Scott DuBois.

Hartt qualified last year for the state wrestling championships.

Senior Lance Daigle also demonstrated his Warrior spirit when he wrestled to third place at Saturday’s event in the 126 pound division.

“Lance wrestled really good all day long and fought hard to finish third,” DuBois said.

The Warriors will host one wrestling tournament this season at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8, at Fort Kent Community High School.
